Travel tip for Amsterdam: In the Dutch capital, old bridge keepers’ houses are brought back to life. The rooms of the Sweets Hotel are small houses on bridges and are spread all over the city. Bridge keepers once used them to regulated traffic on the many canals by opening the bascule bridges for large ships. Today, all this is controlled automatically and the little houses gradually get new tasks. One example are these little hotel houses that offer tourists a slightly different kind of accommodation.
