Art Talks! In Royal Academy Antwerp.
Adrien Tirtiaux (°1980, Brussels) is a visual artist living and working in Antwerp. After a first education as a civil engineer architect (UCL, 2003), he graduated in sculpture and performance at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (2008).
His artistic practice is mostly site-specific, responding to the architectural but also socio-political context of the places he is invited to work in through installations, sculptures, performances, drawings or graphic novels.
His work has been shown in numerous institutions in Belgium (Bozar, M HKA, ikob a.o.) and in Europe (Manifesta 7, Secession Wien, Marta Herford, De Appel Amsterdam, MNAC Bucarest a.o.). He is represented by Galerie Martin Janda in Vienna and Otty Park in Antwerp.
Adrien Tirtiaux is also the cofounder of the project HOTEL CHARLEROI, which invited more than 100 artists to realize site-specific works in the post-industrial town of Charleroi from 2010 to 2014.
