Review: Apollo Hotel, Breda, North Brabant, The Netherlands – January, 2019.
This film is a Moss Travel Media Production –
I stayed at the Apollo Hotel in Breda, The Netherlands in January 2019. A double room on a room only basis cost €85.88, which is not cheap, but hotels in the Netherlands are often not cheap.
The hotel is excellently located next to Breda railway station, perfect for the weary traveller who has taken a train there from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
Check-in was very quick and very efficient, my room 333 was on the top floor of the hotel at the back, it had a perfect view of Breda Centraal railway station. I would like to begin by saying that the station does make some noise under normal working conditions, but when the balcony door is closed, you can barely hear anything. I was quite satisfied by this, but I’ll say more about this later on.
The room was lovely, very modern, nice artwork, comfortable, accessible shower and good business desk with tea and coffee. The bed was a good king sized one and extremely comfortable.
I was very happy in the room and sleeping soundly until 03:00, when workmen from the railway decided to park two VERY NOISY pieces of maintenance equipment in the yard at the back of the hotel. This was extremely annoying and soured my stay somewhat. The hotel should NEVER have allowed that to happen at that time of the early morning, it was quite ridiculous and very loud noise lasted for about 15 minutes.
Besides the above, I very much enjoyed my stay, and I would not let this put me off staying again, as I can’t imagine that such late night maintenance work takes place very often.
Whilst in Breda, I made a small film of the city, beginning outside the hotel and ending at the Railway Station. The city centre is around a 5-7 minute walk from the hotel, it is a very pleasant walk too. The film I made of Breda is here:
